Getting around
Where to park.
Free in town, pass-only at the beaches, paid at Sand Harbor, here's the honest breakdown, with prices, hours, and the rules that actually get enforced.
Four things to know before you go
The beaches need a pass
Incline, Ski, and Burnt Cedar beaches are for IVGID pass holders and their accompanied guests, not the public. Sand Harbor and Hidden Beach are the open-to-everyone options.
Reserve Sand Harbor before 10:30 AM
In summer (May 15–Sept 30) you need a day-use reservation to drive in before 10:30 AM. After that it's first-come, and it fills fast.
Never park on the SR-28 shoulder
The Sand Harbor / East Shore corridor shoulder is a signed No Parking zone that's actively ticketed. Use the Tunnel Creek trailhead lots instead.
Winter: call the snow hotline
Mt. Rose Highway shoulder parking depends on plowing. Check red/green day status: (775) 833-5555 ext. 1.

Anytime
Good news for the everyday stuff: Incline Village has no parking meters and no paid street parking. The shopping centers along Tahoe Blvd and Village Blvd, Raley's, the Christmas Tree Village center, the Country Club plaza, all have free surface lots. Park, grab a coffee, walk the village.
The IVGID beaches, Incline, Ski & Burnt Cedar
Cost
IVGID Recreation Pass, Punch Card, or accompanied guest fee
Hours
Seasonal
This is the one visitors get wrong most often. Incline Beach, Ski Beach, and Burnt Cedar Beach are NOT public, they're owned by the community (IVGID) and access is limited to Incline Village property owners and residents with a Recreation Pass or Punch Card, plus guests who are physically accompanied by a pass holder. You can't just drive up and park to use them; the lots are for pass holders, and vehicles parked in violation are towed at the owner's expense.
Tip · Visiting without a local host? Head to Sand Harbor or the Hidden Beach coves off the East Shore Trail instead, both are open to everyone.
Sand Harbor (Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park)
Cost
$10 / vehicle (NV plates) · $15 / vehicle (out-of-state) · $2 bike-in
Hours
8:00 AM to one hour after sunset
The postcard beach three miles south of town, and the marquee public option. From May 15–Sept 30, a day-use reservation is REQUIRED for vehicle entry from park opening until 10:30 AM (book at reservenevada.com; a $5 processing fee applies, waived for same-day bookings). After 10:30 AM it's first-come, first-served, but the lot routinely fills by mid-morning on summer weekends and closes to new cars.
Tip · No reservation and arriving late? Park at the East Shore Trail lots (below) and walk or bike the 3 paved miles in, often faster than waiting for a Sand Harbor spot to open.
Tunnel Creek, Tahoe East Shore Trailhead (Park Tahoe)
Cost
Park Tahoe metered, dynamic (free at low-demand times up to ~$7/hr at peak)
Hours
In season · lots are not plowed in winter
The 90-space Park Tahoe facility at 1102 Tahoe Blvd, by Ponderosa Ranch Road (locals call it the Bonanza lot, after the old Ponderosa Ranch). It's the trailhead for the paved East Shore Trail to Sand Harbor, and the smartest overflow when Sand Harbor fills. Pay at the meters (credit/debit card only) or by text per the posted signs; a Park Tahoe ambassador is usually on-site at busy times. Two things specific to these spaces: Nevada State Parks and IVGID passes are NOT valid here, and no seasonal passes are offered. Because the lots use water-quality paving and aren't plowed, they can be closed once snow covers the ground.
Tip · Don't park on the SR-28 shoulder, it's a signed No Parking zone that's actively ticketed. Lot full? Ride the free TART Connect microtransit around Incline, or the seasonal East Shore Express shuttle to Sand Harbor. Broken meter? Call (775) 589-5502.
Mt. Rose Hwy & Tahoe Meadows (hiking + snow play)
Cost
Free
Hours
Anytime (winter rules apply)
Up the Mt. Rose Highway (SR-431), the pullouts at Tahoe Meadows and the Mt. Rose Summit trailhead are free roadside parking, summer trailheads and the North Shore's sledding/snowshoe hub in winter. In winter the shoulders are only usable on 'green days' (no plowing); on 'red days' shoulder parking is prohibited so plows can work.
Tip · Check the day's status on the Washoe County / Incline snow hotline: (775) 833-5555 ext. 1. This corridor is also a known car-break-in hotspot, take valuables with you.
Diamond Peak Ski Resort
Cost
Free (base lots) · Preferred slope-side $30 weekends / $35 holidays (reserve online)
Hours
Ski season, daily
Incline's own mountain: free first-come parking in the base lots on Ski Way. On select weekends and holidays you can also reserve a Preferred slope-side spot in the lower lot, $30 on weekends, $35 on holidays and peak periods, booked ahead through shopdp.yourtahoeplace.com. A few catches worth knowing: reserved spots are only held until noon, there are no come-and-go privileges (leave for the day and you forfeit the spot), and reservations are non-refundable. When the lots fill, free shuttles run from overflow parking at UNR Lake Tahoe, Aspen Grove, and the Lakeshore Drive lot.
Tip · No RV or overnight parking. Two EV charging stations are in the upper lot.
